Symbol’s Voices

In Etude Middle’s Social Studies class we learned about the injustices of the Holocaust and The Japanese Internment Camps. For our final project for this unit we had to draw symbols of 3 people, 1 person related to the Holocaust, 1 related to the Japanese Internment Camps, and one of our choice. I chose to research and design symbols for, Art Spiegelman, author of Maus, George Takei, a survivor of the Japanese Internment Camps, talk person, and actor, and lastly Otto Frank, a survivor of the Holocaust and father of Anne Frank. In this piece, the microphone represents how all these people I choose to draw symbols of have spoken out about these injustices. Also how we shouldn’t romanticize or forget these events, or we as the Human race will never learn from our mistakes.
