Planned Giving

Olga Lengyel created TOLI as her legacy.  TOLI’s mission is to educate teachers and students in the United States, Europe, and other parts of the world about human rights and social justice through the lens of the Holocaust and other genocides so that such atrocities never happen again.  For 15 years, TOLI has been a world leader in providing professional development seminars, working with teachers to link the lessons of the Holocaust to current world events and helping them develop a social justice and human rights curriculum that they can bring back to their students.

“Looking back, I, too, want to forget.  I, too, yearn for sunshine and peace and happiness.  In setting down this personal record, I have tried to carry out the mandate given to me by the many fellow internees at Auschwitz who perished so horribly…. I want the world to read and to resolve that this must never, never be permitted to happen again.”

“Five Chimneys: A Woman Survivor’s True Story of Auschwitz

Have you thought about your legacy?  In the Jewish tradition, we have a responsibility to make the world a better place for future generations.  By including TOLI in your planned giving, you are able to create your legacy while helping TOLI continue its Holocaust and human rights education programs in perpetuity.  You can help ensure that Never Again Begins in the Classroom.

Together, with the help of our fundraising staff, we can create a meaningful, philanthropic legacy for you and at the same time, make a difference for generations to come.  Some examples of planned gifts include:

  • Will Bequests – You can include a provision in your will for a specific gift to TOLI after your death or the death of one of your survivors.  You can give TOLI either a specific gift, or you can give a percentage of the balance remaining in your estate after taxes and expenses.
  • Charitable Gift Annuities – A Charitable Gift Annuity is a gift contract that provides one or two beneficiaries with fixed income for life in exchange for a donation to TOLI.  The gift can be made with cash, securities, or other assets.
  • Charitable Remainder Trusts – A Charitable Remainder Trust is a tax-exempt, irrevocable trust that generates an income stream for you or other beneficiaries for a set term — either life, or a designated number of years. At the end of the term, the remainder of the trust’s assets would be directed to TOLI.
  • Retirement Plan Assets – You can designate TOLI as a beneficiary of your IRA, 401(k), or 403(b).  This charitable donation of your retirement assets is an easy, tax-efficient way of funding your legacy.
  • Real Estate – You can make a gift of real estate by transferring the deed/title to TOLI.  There are tax advantages in gifting appreciated real estate, which we would be happy to review with you.
  • Life Insurance – Designating TOLI as the owner and/or beneficiary of your life insurance policy allows you to give a sizable donation without a big cash outlay.  In addition, this type of gift can greatly reduce your taxable estate.
  • Tangible Personal Property – TOLI is able to accept your gifts of tangible personal property, including works of art, jewelry, gems, books, and antiques.

We would be happy to speak with you directly about our ways of giving.
