With the support of a mini-grant from the Memorial Library as well as other funding, 2009 summer seminar participant led 22 students from York College, Nebraska on a trip that included visits to relevant sites in New York and Washington, DC. The students were all enrolled in a summer course, “Special Studies: the Holocaust,” that emphasizes travel and experiential learning. While in New York, the students gathered at the Memorial Library to hear from Holocaust survivor Frances Irwin. This is Ms. DeHart’s second time bringing a group of students to the east coast in order to deepen their learning about the Holocaust. Read an article about their trip here.
