Having seen photographs of the concentration camps along with in class discussions on the Holocaust our students found inspiration when we came across an old building in Piraeus full of old dusty lasts. They decided to draw one shoe in color and one black or blackened in order the show the abrupt end of people’s lives during the Holocaust; color is life while black is death. The message they want to spread is that of peace and a hope that the mistakes of the past will not be repeated as shown in the foremost pair shoes painted in blue and yellow.
