Jewish Memory Files

Charlotte Barbu

Jewish Memory Files is the title of a collage competition on the theme of the Holocaust, organized in Galati for the second year in a row. In 2019, 80 students from different schools, and from two age categories: 12-14 years and 15-18 years took part in the competition, in teams of three. The first part of the competition took place at school level. Then, two teams from each school qualified to the next stage: a joint exhibition of the works realized so far, as well as participating in another contest, in which the collages had to be made on the spot. The students used various materials, such as press clippings, printed materials, photographs, photocopies, watercolors, etc., as well as materials prepared before the start of the contest. As in the case of the first phase, the theme of the collages was centered on the Holocaust. The jury was composed of teachers and specialists in the field of Holocaust. The top three selected works were awarded prizes. In the end, an exhibition of the collages was set up.
