The Holocaust – Learning history for the present and future

Violeta Dragut – Technologic High School, Costesti, Romania

The students were involved in weekly activities such as workshops, desk research, reading books and watching videos to find information about the Holocaust and to create a class portfolio. One group of students went to gather information from the Costești City Archives, another group from the High School Library and another team collected testimonies from local people. Every month the students met and presented the information they gathered. The teachers guided them to write short articles and post them on the e-Twinning platform, where partners from Greece, Republic of Moldova, Turkey, Poland, Italy, Romania could read them. A dissemination event was organized in March 2020 to present the first results – multimedia materials about the Holocaust, Romanian Jews and human rights. Neighboring schools where invited to attend this event. The students continued their research through September 2020 and published a brochure with articles, drawings and collages they made based on the information they gathered.
