As part of NSUWP’s K-16 partnership with my school, my seniors conducted research on Jewish life in Nazi Germany and the Holocaust, and they’re now working to recreate and adapt a scene from Macbeth set in that time period. They presented their research to Dr. Housel last Tuesday, and he was impressed with their work so far. We’re still in the […] View

Thank you for this beautiful post. I’ve been moved by all you guys have shared with the rest of us throughout your travels. It’s so sad to think about the anti-Semitic vandalism, but at the same time, it serves to […]
Dr. William Housel from NSU has been visiting my students at the high school and helping them adapt a scene from Macbeth. The students decided to reset the time period to Nazi Germany, and they are working very hard to do their very best work. They conducted reseach, wrote essays, and now they're putting all of that together to create an adaptation.
THis is a Torah ark decoration from the late 1800s or early 1900s. It decorated a Torah ark in a synagogue on South Seventh Street in Philadelphia. I saw this in Washington, DC, at the Smithsonian.
T's using the USC Shoah Foundation's iWitness website to make her own video using clips from Holocaust survivors. My students will present their videos to the class and master teachers starting April 9th. The administration and teachers and students from other classes will also be invited to attend.
First I would like to say I was not as sad as I looked, though it was a depressing topic. My identity poster helped me to realize what was truely valuable to me. It also showed me that there are certain things specific to me that I identify with even though other people might not. In other words, I like being a unique individual. I cannot imagine someone taking my personal identity away and replacing my name with a number.

My project was about hereos during the Holocaust. Some of the hereos where a nun who hid Jews in her convent building, a man who helped smuggle Jewish children, and a preist who died in place of another man. I want people to remember that not everyone just did what they were told to do. Some people did resist.

For my project I created a scrapbook about the Holocaust. It included many topics like the crematoriums, locations of death camps, quotes from Holocaust survivors, and short biographys of children that were murdered. I titled my scrapbook, "So Others Will Remember" to honor those who perished because of this horrific genocide. I hope…[Read more]
My project was designed to look like a target board, with the different areas shaped like the Star of David, a symbol of the Jewish religion. The target board idea respresents how Jews were the main target during the Holocaust genocide, and the word genocide is at the top. Each section of the board represents something different…[Read more]
This painting is a representation of the lives lost in the Holocaust. The black background represents the horror of the Holocaust; the triangles in the top right corner symbolizes the patches people were forced to wear; handprints symbolized children lost.
