    • 2023 Summer Seminar Participant Introductions: due MAY 15
Welcome! We are pleased to have you join us on the TOLI site. Please take a few moments here to introduce yourself to the group. Tell us about where and what you teach, a bit about your life (interests, family, a favorite book or movie), and what draws you to this work. Please also return to this forum from time to time to learn about your colleagues and to say hello.

    • On Austrian Soil 2023 Summer Seminar Responses: due MAY 30
As you read Sondra’s book, please record your thoughts, responses, questions or queries. If it fits, copy out a passage that speaks to you. Write about your own reactions or tell your own stories in response. We will have time to discuss the book and your responses to it when we meet in person in New York. Goal: To complete reading and responding by May 30th. Please return to the Discussion Board from time to time to respond to at least two other teachers (and more if you are so inclined).

    • Belonging 2023 Summer Seminar Responses: due JUNE 8 (or earlier)
What strikes you about Krug's graphic memoir? What, if anything, did you learn about the Holocaust and its resonances in German life? This can be something large or small, a fact or a feeling. How do you respond to Krug's use of the concept of "Heimat" (ie:  home, longing, belonging to a real or imaginary place)? How does this concept play out in your life? Please respond to these prompts and then return to this forum to respond to at least one or two other teachers.

    • Looking at Perl & Krug: due JUNE 15 (or earlier)

Both Perl and Krug explore the notion of identity, one from a Jewish American perspective, the other from a German perspective; yet both have similar insights when exploring their pasts, their locations in the world and their experiences of otherness. What similarities and differences do you find in their memoirs? How do these relate to your life? Please respond and then read and respond to at least one or two other posts.

    • Becoming a Holocaust Educator 2023 Summer Seminar Responses: due JUNE 18 (or earlier)
Please read the Introduction, then choose up to three chapters that are of interest to you and share your responses to them on the Discussion Forum. We invite you to browse through the book and see what strikes you: what resonates with you as an educator? What feels familiar - or new and different? There is no order in which to do this so feel free to complete this assignment as time and space allow, but as with the other forums, please be sure to go back to the discussion to read and respond.  DUE DATE: Anytime between May 20-June 18
