I have posted pictures from a human rights panel discussion that I hosted at my school in Colorado on December 10th. Our entire staff has generously collaborated with me in designing a cross-curricular study of human rights for the months of December and January. Students are creating projects for their science study of nature vs. nurture. English students are reading a variety of Holocaust literature, and composing response essays/projects. History students have researched Rwanda and Sudan, and Math students are studying statistics/human toll of genocide, with primary focus upon the Holocaust. This is a great project, one that has been more meaningful with the personal testimony of Arok, a “lost boy” from Sudan and a handful of informed human rights activists I know locally.
