Hello! My name is April McNary and I teach 10th grade English at Sunnyslope High School in Phoenix, Arizona. Born and raised in Arizona, I teach at the high school I attended as a student. I love teaching; my heart lives in the classroom. We read, book talk, and write daily.

I have been married to my husband Jason for 9 years, and we have a beautiful toddler who will turn 4 this August named Audrey. Audrey falls asleep cuddling books as if they were stuffed animals — she’s my kid for sure!

I look forward to going back to school in the next few years to get a MA. Money and time are the enemies right now.

In the meantime, I try to write daily, and read as much Y.A. literature as possible. I also teach a creative writing class at ASU (Arizona State University) in the summer through our local National Writing Project site — YAWP (Young Adult Writing Project).

I truly look forward to getting to know all of you! Here’s to a summer of learning!
