You raise such important questions! I agree that there is just too much to teach and not enough time. (I’m guilty of trying to squish 60 minute lesson plans into 42 minute classes.) My two cents would be to think about what responses and life lessons you want to elicit from students (and fellow teachers). Which lesson would be most powerful in…[Read more]

Thank you for sharing these questions and anxieties. I think that, so often, we aren’t comfortable sharing our concerns and our anxieties with those around us–particularly in professional settings. As teachers, we are so used to being the authority figures that, even though we may be comfortable with student questions and class discussions, we…[Read more]

Hi!
You’ve had an exciting teaching career! I’ve never been to Alabama, but I’ll be headed there in July for an NEH Summer Institute studying civil rights. I’m excited to explore, and I’ll have to get all sorts of tips from you!
Best,

HI
I look forward to meeting you! I studied abroad in Greece (based in Athens) in the fall of 2000, and I loved it so much! We also traveled to the islands including Crete. I’m excited to hear more about what it’s all like now.
Best,
