About Me: Please share a bit about yourself--school life, family life, interests (academic and other).

I recently retired from teaching after 32 years in secondary education. I have a BA in Education from UNC-Chapel Hill and an MEd from UNC-Greensboro. I am certified to teach K-12 Speech Communication, K-12 Theatre Arts, and 9-12 Social Studies. I was National Board certified in Secondary Social Studies.
I have been married to my husband, Dewayne, for 30 years and we have one son, Jacob, who is 27.
I have studied Holocaust and Social Justice with the US Holocaust Memorial Museum at Belfer I, Belfer Next Step in Atlanta, and am a Museum Teacher Fellow.
I have also done Holocaust and Social Justice work with Facing History and Ourselves and Centropa.I traveled with Centropa in 2011 to Poland, Austria, Croatia, and Bosnia-Herzgovina.
I am an appointed member of the NC Council on the Holocaust where I serve as Co-Facilitator for Teacher Workshops for the western half of NC. I also Co-Facilitate Holocaust seminars for the NC Center for the Advancement of Teaching.
After retiring from public school teaching, I now work with a local university in the School of Education as a University Supervisor for Secondary Social Studies student teachers.
I love to travel and to read. I am a nerd at heart and love to constantly learn. I love all things tea, coffee, and chocolate. I love unique scarves, baskets, teapots,Christmas ornaments, and of course, books!
